Fundraising at Congdon Park

The PTA is continuing the One and Done campaign this year. We are asking for your support and participation. Through your contributions we raised enough money to support our school without having to ask students to become door-to-door salesmen, i.e. cookie dough or wrapping paper sales. By asking for monetary donations rather than selling products, the school gets 96-100% of the proceeds rather than at most 50%.   We are committed to having only one fundraising activity and to do this we need to raise $23,000 by Oct. 15th.

The funds raised will go to support:

·       Reduced cost of field trips

·       Library books

·       Busses for 4th grade trip to Wolf Ridge

·       Parent and Family Nights

·       Busses for the 5th grade trip to St. Paul

·       Giving Tree/warm clothing drive

·       Fund the End of the Year Celebration

·       School, grade level assemblies

·       Donation to the 5th grade yearbook

·       Teacher Appreciation Luncheons

·       PE and playground equipment

·       Teacher/staff conference dinners

·       Jr. Great Books

·       Kindergarten Round Up supplies

·       Supplies & Teacher Discretionary Funds

·       School Directory

·       Art Adventure Program

·       Art and Music supplies

(*The PTA cannot cover every classroom expense. The cost of individual field trips and parties will be determined by your teacher.)

Through GiveMN.org we have an option for online giving. Simply log onto www.givemn.org/organization/Congdonparkpta to make your tax-deductible donation with your credit card. Don’t forget to send this link to family and friends who may also like to support the education of our children.  Please consider a contribution to this campaign. Your donation, regardless of size, benefits your child and all Congdon students.  NO gift is too small and is fully tax deductible!  A contribution of any size will be recognized equally.

Please make checks out to Congdon Park PTA and include your family name (unless making an anonymous donation) and your students name.

Thank you for your support!!

NewPage Collection
Have you wondered about the large bright green dumpster in the parking lot?  Congdon Park is a collection site for NewPage, a recycled pulp mill in Duluth that recycles nearly 1 million pounds of recovered paper each day.  We ask our Congdon Park families and community members to save the glossy paper inserts that come in your newspaper, magazines and white paper and put them in the NewPage dumpster.  For every pound of paper we collect we receive 10 cents.

Please do not put brown paper bags, wet paper, boxes or colored paper in the dumpster. Our goal is to fill the dumpster at least 12 times per calendar year. The monies raised from NewPage go to support the programs implemented by our Environmental Concerns group, including starting a composting program at Congdon, real silverware and a school garden.

FREE MONEY FOR CONGDON! – Nobody would throw away a stack of dimes, would they?  Box Tops for Education is a wonderful fundraising program offered by General Mills and many partner brands that is simple and costs Congdon nothing.  Each Box Top is worth TEN FREE CENTS!  Last year Congdon submitted box tops worth nearly $1,400!  Please clip box tops and bonus box tops from everyday products and return to the school office regularly; don’t wait until you have a full bag or hit a certain dollar amount as Box Tops do have expiration dates.  The neater the better, but they can be processed in any condition.  Please consider registering as a follower of Congdon Park Elementary at www.boxtops4education.com where you can check on our school’s progress and also “vote” for various bonus offers for the school.  Thanks in advance for a great Box Tops year!  Please also note that at this time Congdon does not participate in any other similar programs (including soup labels, bread bags, and milk caps).
