Thank you for your support during the two hour late start last Friday. It seems like we were just getting back into the groove of things when Mother Nature decided to adjust the schedule. As hard as it sometimes seems, making a decision about the school day start time isn’t always easy for the Superintendent. He works very closely with the surrounding districts and transportation and together they make the decision. I want to be clear that in the future an “all call” will go out to families from the district in addition to other communication. On a late start day school starts at 9:45. Students can not arrive before 9:20 because there will be no adult supervision. Last Friday many families dropped off their children not knowing it was a late start day. We were able to cover but had over 47 students to monitor. I want to make sure we do a better job moving forward so that this does not happen again.
A huge Shout-Out to our School Patrols, Ms. Sauer, Mrs. DeVaney, Mrs. Hagen, and Ms. McKeever for making sure the students are safety getting to and from school. It is not easy to be outside in the cold and we are very grateful for their support each and every day and your patience.
Miigwetch (thank you, Ojibwe,) to Dave our building engineer, and his crew for their efforts both inside and outside of the building. Families, in an effort to keep our children safe, all students should be dropped off at Door “1” which is the main entrance located in the back of the school. The safety of our children is our first priority and picking up and dropping off on Superior Street is very dangerous. That area is designated for busses only and the doors are extremely heavy for children to open on their own.
January Highlights: NWEA testing for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade is done for now and our kids did a great job and made excellent gains. Our Fifth Graders participated in the Inventors Fair and many students will represent Congdon at the annual Inventors Fair at the Miller Hill Mall on Friday, February 6th. Thank you Mrs. Lofstuen and families for your support. Don’t forget Conferences will be on January 27th, 29th, and February 3th. This is such an important time for you to connect with your child’s teacher about their mid-year progress. Please make sure to contact your child’s teacher with any questions or feel free to contact Jane in our office at 336-8825.
